2 Special Needs Electives presented by the NSW Scouts Special Needs Team. All Leaders, Youth Helpers, Rovers, and Adult Supporters welcome!

$20.00 for each elective you attend

FOOD – morning tea / afternoon tea provided.  Please bring your own lunch if staying

ATTENDANCE - choose to attend either elective individually or come along to both.  

PAYMENT - if you register for both you need to submit two L1 forms and pay $40 to GWS Region Office

ACCESS to the Rotary Hut’s back door is via 1 step up and the bathroom facilities at Bundilla have limited accessibility including a step up.   Please let us know if access will be a challenge for you.

Positive Behaviour Supports Elective
9.30am – 1.00pm
(includes morning tea break)

This elective is designed to increase your understanding of behaviour and the use of positive strategies to support youth with special needs.  Topics include:

  • the relationship between sensory input and behaviour
  • identify some underlying causes of behaviour
  • develop supports for youth members

Special Needs Awareness Elective
1.30pm – 3.30pm
Course number 810 17 002

This elective is an introduction to supporting youth with special needs.  Covers all sections!  Topics covered include:

  • Perceptions/Feelings/Values/Attitudes
  • Barriers to participation
  • Available supports
  • National Disability insurance Scheme
