Leaders coordinating the hike are Martin Beaupark and Susan Smith – Both are Guide Qualified in bushwalking.
Objective is a challenging day of bushwalking for Cubs covering some areas of OAS Bushwalking 1 – 3.
Things participants need to bring:
Personal First Aid kit. Day pack. Hat. Sunglasses. Walking/hiking shoes – enclosed shoes with good grip. Long pants and long-sleeved shirt. Jumper. Sun cream. Insect repellent. Raincoat. Food for the day. Water - at least 2 litres. Mobile phone.
Brief route description:
The Goanna Track is a short but pleasant bush track with some good views down over Heathcote Creek. Mostly along management trail, this walk follows the pipeline from Heathcote out to the Goanna Track circuit. The Goanna Track Circuit walk starts and ends at Heathcote Railway Station.
Prerequisites: Able to walk about 4-5 hours including breaks/rest stops. Challenging in parts. AWTGS Grade 3.
Supporting leaders/parents are needed to attend to help "look after" youth who might need extra support during the hike.
