Introduction to caving. Abseiling experience not required. Experienced abseilers will learn to rig and manage caving situations. Less experienced abseilers gain experience in cave environments. Abseiling only conducted for more difficult caves - unlikely this weekend.
Individual catering, own transport to the activity start, but will carpool from the campground to the caves (assistance with carpooling will be required).
Packing List:
Personal abseiling gear if owned - helmet, harness, personal anchor, descender, gloves etc. Must be in date and will be inspected by trained personnel.
Clothes and shoes that can get dirty (overalls are ideal).
Participants bring all their own food.
Backpack with snacks, water, minimum 3 sources of light, one of which must be a headtorch. Snacks must be able to be eaten without touching them - e.g. museli bars, wrapped chocolates, trail mix.
Activity leaders bring first aid kits and lighters.
Standard camp equipment - tent, sleeping arrangements, warm clothes, etc. Bring spare clothes and shoes to change into after caves.
Gas stoves and barbeques are available at the campsite, however they are shared facilities. Bathrooms and showers also at the campground.
Any personal gear brought is individuals responsibility if it is lost or broken.
