Scout Abseil Experience (OAS 3)

This activity will be run by qualified Adventurous Activity Leaders from GWSR.

Completion of this basic abseil skills day will earn the Scout the Stage 3 Vertical OAS badge. Scouts should review the requirements in order to be prepared for the activity.

Program:

Scouts will be allocated to a session once registrations have closed.

Session 1

8:30pm - Drop-off, walk to abseil site

8:45pm - Scouts assist Activity Leaders set-up abseils

9:00am - Theory and practical

12:00pm - Walk to road, pick-up

12:00pm - 12:30pm - Activity Leader lunch

Session 2

12:15pm - Drop-off, walk to abseil site

12:30pm - Theory and practical

3:30pm - Scouts assist Activity Leaders pack-down abseils

4:00pm - Walk to road, pick-up

Location:

Scouts to meet at the corner of Highs Road and Sanctuary Point Road, West Pennant Hills. Leaders will lead the Scouts down the fire trail to the abseil site.

Wear:

• Weather appropriate shirt and/or jumper.
• Comfortable and durable pants/ shorts long enough to wear with a harness.
• Closed in shoes with good grip.
• Hat.

Bring:

Small back pack containing:

• rain coat
• water bottle (minimum 1L, but 2L recommended)
• sunscreen
• snacks (optional)
