State Bushwalking Team

Available to members of Scouts NSW (Scouts, Venturers, Rovers and Leaders)

Minimum age originally 13 and older. If there are any Scouts ages 11 and 12 with previous multiple day walking experience, confident with 20 km untracked you can apply. Prerequisite experience: Comfortable with pack under load, previous three day hike or multiple overnight hikes.

Distance: Approx. 30 km

Costs: Nil admin fee, self-catering applies, own transport to Brooklyn

1 night spent in off track bush setting without grass or open spaces. Pockets of space amongst the trees and shrubs. Ground may be firm. Probably easier with smaller tents or groundsheet and fly instead of tent.

Practice off track navigation

Includes off track, river crossings, swims, bush toileting, extended strenuous physical activity and endurance. Suitable for youth and adult members who exercise and or play sport regularly.

This camp is self-catered so please bring whatever suits your liking. It is important to bring sufficient food for the duration. Choose hearty and nutritious foods that provide sufficient energy.

AWTGS Grade 5 Very experienced bushwalkers with specialised skills, including navigation and emergency first aid. Tracks are likely to be very rough, very steep and unmarked. Australian Standard for walking track construction (AS 2156).
