Who Can Join
- Patrols of 4–6 Scouts, including eligible Cubs aged 10+
- Cubs must have:
- Level 2 in Bushcraft, Bushwalking, and Camping
- Actively working toward Level 3
- Achieved Milestone 2, working toward Milestone 3
- Cubs are full patrol members — a chance to stretch skills in a supportive, youth‑led setting
Gear & Lightweight Expectations
- Lightweight camping only — gear will be weighed
- Target weight: 20%–25% of combined patrol bodyweight
- Bonus points for hitting the 20% mark exactly
- Scouts must pack up and hike with all gear (excluding tents) daily
- Cubs may use daypacks, but must pack up their own gear each morning
- Tent checks before bases begin — neat, secure, weather‑ready setups expected

- Frontier Skills: bushcraft, teamwork, and problem‑solving challenges
- Outlaw Obstacle Courses and Saloon‑Style Scenarios
- Points for patrol spirit, skill, and creative interpretation of the Wild West theme
Saturday Night Cook‑Up
- Patrols cook their own dinner — no leader hand‑holding
- Extra points for teamwork, creativity, and Wild West flair
- Think: cowboy cuisine, frontier feasts, chuckwagon pride
- Invite leaders to join you — show off your hospitality and patrol pride
Bonus Points
- Best Dressed Patrol: cowboy hats, prairie skirts, sheriff badges, outlaw swagger
- Whether pioneers or glittery gold miners — style counts
- Sheriff’s Choice Award for the patrol that best embodies the Wild West spirit
Sun Safety
- Broad‑brimmed hats & sun‑protective clothing
- SPF 30+ sunscreen applied regularly
- Shade during peak UV periods
- Hydration and regular breaks

Child Safe Scouting
Scouts NSW is committed to a safe, inclusive, empowering environment:
- Zero tolerance for abuse
- All adults must hold a WWCC and complete a Police Check

Adult Helper Requirements
Adult Helpers support Scout Groups without uniformed Leader commitment:
- Must hold a valid WWCC
- Complete a Police Check
- Undertake three mandatory online modules:
- Child Safe Scouting
- Scouts NSW Code of Conduct
- WHS for Scouting
- Be screened and approved by their Group Leader
