DESCRIPTION:Overnight bushwalk: Located in the Wollemi National Park\, near Lithgow\, the Glow-Worm to Newnes return\, hike is aimed at Scouts and Venturers with minimal Bush walking experience\, though being reasonably fit will make this hike more enjoyable. This hike is approximately 10km/day classed as moderate. (AWTGS: Grade 3). \nThe Glowworm tunnel is 387metre-long tunnel was built in the early 1900s as part of the railway for the thriving mining industry at Newnes.  It’s now home to thousands of glow worms that cling to the dark\, damp walls. We will be descending approximately 350 metres on the Saturday and re-ascending on the Sunday\; the gradient is very gradual as the hike is prominently on a disused railway formation. From our campsite we also plan an excursion approximately 2.5km exploring the historic Newnes Industrial Ruins. \n\nArrival time: Saturday. 9.00am. 20th September 2025 \nMeeting Location: The Glowworm Tunnel car park at the end of Glowworm Tunnel Road\nLocated in the Wollemi National Park\nFinish Time.
