Brief Summary:
Abseiling training program to support Venturers, Rovers and Leaders with their pathways for Abseiling Qualifications.
Additional Information

This event is designed for Venturers, Rovers and Leaders who wish to gain abseiling qualifications, no matter your current level of experience. Whether you’re a complete beginner or have already done plenty of abseiling but need a formal qualification, this program is for you.

Over the program, we’ll guide you through the essential skills and theory to ensure you leave with the appropriate qualification for your skills level. Youth members will have a chance to gain OAS progressions.

This program consists of a theory session that will be on the 21/06/2025 9:00am-1:00pm at Padstow Scouts Hall, you will need to attend this theory day in order to participate in the Weekend unless otherwise approved by activity leader.

This Event is Self Catered

Participants aiming for Trained Participant qualification in Abseiling will need to do the following:

  1. Fully engage in both the theory and practical sessions.
  2. Complete Trained participant Core online e-learning modules if you haven't done that before. (info attached)
  3. Complete Level 1 Abseiling e-learning modules
  4. Complete TP Core ROP workbook if you haven't done that before (attached).
  5. Submit outdoor activities logbooks. (template attached)

As with all adventurous qualifications, turning up does not automatically equate to a qualification but skill attitude and possible previous experience will all contribute to attaining qualifications. You will however certainly leave the weekend with new skills and experience.

Youth memebers will be able to achieve OAS progressions depending on what the skills they demonstrate through out the weekend, bring your OAS book if you have one.

With the right level of Skills and experience this program can open the pathway of VET qualifications via SAIT e.g. Cert II outdoor recreation. To enrol at the Scouts Australia Institution of Training “SAIT” you will need to obtain a USI number.
